How do you differ from conventional medical doctors? How are you alike?
Naturopathic doctors are similar to conventional medical doctors in that they receive similar basic education, and practice modern diagnostic techniques. Moreover, Naturopathic physicians also have the ability to order and interpret labs, and refer when necessary. Naturopathic physicians differ from convention medical doctors in treatment strategy. Instead of suppressing symptoms, the underlying cause is addressed and overall health is improved. In order to do so, Naturopathic physicians typically spend more time with their patients so that they may thoroughly understand the totality of factors impacting their health. Moreover, Naturopathic physicians use the most cost effective and safe treatments necessary to achieve results, which helps to avoid adverse effects and detrimental over treatment.
